Quiches are one of my favorite dishes to cook. It’s super easy and quick. In my daily life, that’s all that I’m about. I love eating and cooking but I would rather spend my time doing other activities than be all day in the kitchen. So, I’m back with my Spinach Quiche Recipe.
A homemade quiche is really inexpensive. It’s a budget-friendly dish that is also healthy. All the ingredients can be usually found in your fridge!
A lot of people are intimidating by making their own quiche crust but it’s not that complicated, really. It will only take you 7 minutes to make your own. If you have a Kitchen Aid or a Food Processor, it will be even better.
Spinach Quiche Recipe, Ingredients and recipe for the crust:
- 250g of Flour
- 1 Egg
- 1 pinch of Salt
- 100g of Butter or Coconut Oil
- Hot Water
I love to cook my cakes and pies with Coconut Oil! It gives a subtle taste and a flaky pastry like texture.
Mix the egg in a bowl. Put the flour in a big bowl with a pinch of salt. Add the egg and the butter or the coconut oil to the flour and mix. If you feel that the mixture has not formed a bowl yet, add some water and mix again until you form a dough ball.
Do the same steps if you are using your Food Processor (with the mixing blade).
Spinach Quiche Recipe, Ingredients and recipe for the stuffing:
- 3 Eggs
- 10 cl of Sour Cream or Cooking Cream
- 1 Bunch of Spinach
- 1 Onions
- 2 Garlic Cloves
- Cheese according to your preferences
I advise you to begin by adding the Spinach to a boiling water and leave it for 7 mn. Let it drain and move on with the pie crust recipe mentioned up above. While the base is resting, start to prepare the stuffing.
Add 1 tablespoon of oil to a pan (I prefer to use Canola oil since it’s healthier when cooked). Chop your onions and put them in the hot pan. Let them brown and add the 2 garlic cloves. Set aside.
Mix the 3 eggs in a bowl. Add your cooking cream, the cheese, pepper, and salt.
Roll out the dough on a baking paper and put it on a pie plate. Spread the spinach and the onion/garlic mixture at the bottom of the pie and cover it with the egg mixture!
Et voila, this is the result you should get!
Cook at 180°F for 40mn.
